School building

As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, there is big concern for the development of young children’s language skills and the negative impact the school closure has had on particularly early years, foundation stage 1 (nursey), foundation stage 2 (reception) and key stage 1. Years 1 and 2. Read more in the document below:

Cawood Primary School is open to pupils. We will continue to provide home learning for any children who are required to isolate at home (there is more information about remote learning further down this page).

A Message From The Headteacher

We are a Voluntary Aided Church of England Primary school for 3-11 year olds, based in North Yorkshire. We aim to be a highly inclusive school where everyone matters.

We endeavour to live out our mission statement each day and the children are supported in their learning by dedicated staffgovernorsparents and carers. We have close links with our local church, All Saints.

I encourage you to browse around our website.  You will find details of school events, visitors and activities that serve to enliven the curriculum, alongside information about our after school clubs and extra curricular activities in which your children can participate.

We are currently working in partnership with the Diocese of York, North Yorkshire, North Yorkshire Music Services, The North Star Alliance, our local cluster of Schools and Club Doncaster (Doncaster Rovers) to deliver the very best outcomes we can for our primary aged/school children.

We are very proud of the children and their achievements, and we have a very dedicated staff team that works hard, alongside governors, parents/carers, the church and the whole community to provide the very highest levels of education.

Please contact the school if you would like to know more about us or would like to look around the school. We are always happy to be of assistance, and we would love to hear from you if you have any comments or questions about our school.

Don’t forget to visit our newsletter section for a comprehensive listing of all of the important term events and I look forward to seeing you in school.

Best Wishes

Nick Payling, Head Teacher

Our year 6 children are The Guardians of the Garth, and have carefully chosen some beautiful plaques which are engraved (so rubbings can be taken). They have thoughtfully picked locations which are safe and accessible for everyone to stop and have a go at making nature trail rubbings. Here’s their Garth trail.

They have also been busy looking after the Garth especially painting and weeding. Read more on the village website:

We have set up Google Classrooms to help you with your learning during these difficult times. Please read the VIRTUAL CLASSROOM page for full details of how to use it.

If you have a general enquiry, please contact the administrators in the school office (01757 268 368).

“Excellence and enjoyment, rooted in our key Christian values of Perseverance, Friendship, Thankfulness and Wisdom”. Stepping forward together.
